Haystak is a dark web search engine that indexes onion sites and allows users to search for content on the Tor network.
"OnionTube" is a video hosting and sharing platforms operating as hidden services (.onion sites) on the Tor network. The primary appeal of such services is enhanced anonymity for both uploaders and viewers, as Tor obscures users' IP addresses. They often aim to provide a space for content that might be censored or removed from mainstream clear web platforms like YouTube, potentially hosting controversial political material, documentaries, or other forms of expression where privacy is paramount. However, accessing video content over Tor can be slow and buffer-prone due to the network's inherent latency. Furthermore, like many darknet services, OnionTube sites can vary widely in reliability, content moderation standards, and longevity, and may sometimes host illicit or harmful material alongside legitimate content seeking censorship resistance.
Btdigg functions as a BitTorrent DHT (Distributed Hash Table) search engine, differentiating itself from traditional torrent indexing websites. Instead of relying on central trackers or hosting .torrent files, it actively crawls the BitTorrent DHT network to discover torrents based on the info hashes and metadata being shared directly by peers in real-time. Users can search for content and are typically provided with magnet links, which allow their BitTorrent client to connect directly to the peer swarm to download the desired files. Btdigg offers a minimalist interface focused solely on searching the DHT. Its key advantage is indexing currently active torrents across the global BitTorrent network, potentially including files not listed on public trackers. As with all torrent search engines, users should be aware of the copyright implications of the content they choose to access.

Torrentz2 was a highly popular torrent meta-search engine, known for its minimalist interface and comprehensive search capabilities. Unlike traditional torrent sites that host .torrent files or magnet links directly, Torrentz2 functioned as an aggregator, indexing torrents from dozens of other major public trackers and search engines. Users could perform a single search on Torrentz2 to find results compiled from various sources across the BitTorrent network, making it a powerful tool for discovering available files. It didn't host content itself but provided links (often magnet links or info hashes) pointing to the original locations. The original Torrentz2 site voluntarily shut down in 2016, but several unofficial clones and mirrors using similar names and interfaces emerged afterward, attempting to replicate its functionality for the file-sharing community.
